Pakistan announced their squad for the second Test match against Bangladesh on Wednesday, August 28. The hosts brought back spinner Abrar Ahmed, the most notable absentee from the first Test which Pakistan lost by 10 wickets in Rawalpindi. Alongside Abrar, Pakistan brought in batter Kamran Ghulam and fast bowler Aamir Jamal into the fold for the second Test match.

In a press release, Pakistan confirmed that Jamal’s availability for the second and final Test match of the series will be decided on his fitness standards. The move comes after Pakistan’s embarrassing loss against Najmul Shanto’s side in the previous Test match. Pakistan lost their first-ever Test against Bangladesh, that too after declaring in the first innings.

The second Test match is set to start on August 30.

“Abrar Ahmed and Kamran Ghulam were released from the Test squad before the start of the first Test match and featured for Pakistan Shaheens in a four-day game against Bangladesh ‘A’ at the Islamabad Club from 20 to 23 August. Also, Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was released from the squad at the conclusion of the first Test, has rejoined the squad on Tuesday evening,” the PCB said in a release.

“Meanwhile, Aamir Jamal, who had been released from the squad to work on his fitness at the NCA, has been recalled. Aamir’s participation in the second Test will remain subject to fitness clearance,” it further added.
