India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who missed the first two matches of the Duleep Trophy 2024 due to a thumb injury, has recovered from it and is now all set to play for the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India C team in their third and final match. The table-toppers will face Mayank Agarwal’s India A team at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur from Thursday (September 19) onwards.

Surya suffered the injury while playing for Mumbai in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Coimbatore. He injured the thumb on his right hand while fielding at leg slip and then went to NCA to complete his rehabilitation program.

The 34-year-old right-handed batter will add strength to India C’s batting unit, which won the first match against India D by four wickets and managed to take the first-inning lead in the second game against India B.

On Tuesday, Suryakumar, travelling from Bengaluru to Anantapur in a car, posted a picture of himself, captioning it with: ‘Next stop: Anantapur.’

Suryakumar’s return is also good news for Team India, as now he will be available for the three-match T20I series between India and Bangladesh as well. After the two-match Test series, which starts on Thursday (September 19) in Chennai, India and Bangladesh will face each other in as many as three T20Is. The series opener is scheduled to take place in Gwalior on October 6, and the next two matches will be played in Delhi and Hyderabad on October 9 and 12, respectively.
