Mehidy Hasan Miraz earned a recall to Bangladesh’s T20I team after 14 months as BCB named the squad for their three-match series against India. The 26-year-old missed the T20 World Cup 2024, having last played in the bilateral series against Afghanistan back in July 2023. He joins a strong spin-attack, which also includes Mahedi Hasan, Rakibul Hasan and young sensation Rishad Hossain.
Left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan and swashbuckling left-handed batter Parvez Hossain Emon have also been called back after both players missed the World Cup. Back in December 2020, Emon scored a 42-ball hundred in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup, but has only played three T20Is thus far.
Rakibul, on the other hand, was a part of Bangladesh’s victorious U19 team in the World Cup on South African soil in 2020. Having also led the junior team in 2022, the youngster has played three T20Is since his debut against Malaysia in the Asian Games last year.
Shoriful Islam missed the second Test against Pakistan and the two-match Test series against India due to a groin injury. The pacer has returned to the seam-attack, which also has Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Taskin Ahmed. Mahmudullah Riyad is their most experienced player in the squad, having scored 2394 runs and picking up 43 wickets from 138 T20Is.
Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the 15-member squad, which also has Towhid Hridoy, Tanzid Hassan Tamim and Towhid Hridoy as three of their most promising young cricketers. Litton Das is likely to be the first-choice wicketkeeper ahead of Anik, who also played in the T20 World Cup.
The first T20I is scheduled to take place on October 6 at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. Delhi and Hyderabad will host the second and third T20Is on October 9 and 12 respectively.
