Once a SLPP, then SJB supporter, now Dilshan, with Dual citizenship, jumps to Ranjan Ramanayake’s Party!

Former Sri Lankan cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan, who was once an ardent supporter of Rajapaksha’s SLPP then switched his loyalty to Sajith Premadasa led SJB during recently concluded Presidential election, has now jumped to the United Democratic Voice, the political party of actor-turned-politician Ranjan Ramanayake, which was officially launched in Colombo today.

Dilshan has also been appointed as the United Democratic Voice’s national organiser and will contest the General Election.

In past, Dilshan was going to be a candidate from SLPP for Provincial Counsil. He was even made an organizer for Piliyandala, as during his playing career, he was a follower of Rajapakshas (largely due to Zimbabwe tour). Then, realizing that Rajapakshas are no more relevant in Sri Lanka’s politics, recently he joined Sajith and SJB made him organizer for Kalutara. Now, after SJB’s defeat in presidential election, he has joined Ramanayake!

Interestingly, Dilshan was migrated to Australia and tried to make a career in coaching, by doing one by one assignments In Melbourne! Then, six months ago, he returned to Sri Lanka and now desperately wants to fit himself ANYWHERE!

In cricket, he was eyeing and desperately trying for a coaching assignment at Sri Lanka Cricket – either as batting coach of national team, a high profile position at High Performance Centre (HPC) or a batting coach assignment at junior level. But, he failed to get anything!

Now, him joining Ranjan Ramanayake’s party also raises many questions. As he holds Australian citizenship, how he will be able to contest, is remained to be seen.
