With deadline day approaching, the Chennai Super Kings will be keen to know what their talisman MS Dhoni has decided for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, the five-time IPL champions are to keep the Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as their first-choice retention at 18 crores followed by the skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and then Matheesha Pathirana who has agreed to be the third-choice retention.

Among the trio of Devon Conway, Shivam Dube and the uncapped star Sameer Rizvi, two of them would also be retained as per the report.

As for MS Dhoni’s future, the report suggests that the Dhoni is expected to keep playing while his official decision is yet to be announced. It is expected to be announced by October 28 and the former skipper would be retained as an uncapped player at INR 4 crores.

In fact, Dhoni himself had revealed what his future plans were. He wants to enjoy those last few years of his cricketing career as his illustrious career comes to a close.

“I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play,” Dhoni was quoted as saying to TOI.

“When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That’s what I want to do. It’s not easy,” he added.

While playing in the IPL is one challenge, his preparations prior to the tournament remains a challenge as he would have to remain fit for over half a year to ensure that he is ready to play for the tournament.

“The emotions keep coming, the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years. I have to keep myself fit for nine months, so that I can play two and a half months of IPL. You need to plan it out, but at the same time chill a bit.”

With Dhoni’s career coming to an end in the near future, the franchise would want to give their star player a dream-like end to this IPL career which could be to win one more title.
