Team man Jasprit Bumrah can be India’s long-term captaincy option: Cheteshwar Pujara

India cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara has called fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah to be India’s long-term captaincy option. Notably, Bumrah recently led India in the first Test in Perth and inspired the team to a massive 295-run win. The fast bowler was also adjudged Player of the Match for registering figures of 8/72 as he got India off to a perfect start in the absence of Rohit Sharma.

The speedster won’t be seen captaining the team in the second Test with the return of Rohit Sharma. However, Cheteshwar Pujara has been mighty impressed by Bumrah and even pitched his case for being a long term India skipper.

“He is (a viable long-term captaincy option) with any doubt. The way he has showed that in difficult circumstances when we had a tough series at home and when you are playing a first Test match in Australia and to put up a show like that,” Pujara told ESPNCricinfo.

Further speaking ahead, Pujara called Bumrah a team man who never talks about himself and praises all his teammates.

“I think he has the capability of leading the team and he’s a team’s man. You look at him he never only talks about himself, he talks about the team, the other players. What advice he would give,” he added.
