Apsari Tillakaratne, wife of former test player Hashan Tillakaratne, has visited quite a few times at Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) headquarter Maitland Place in last few weeks in her quest to rejoin on her post of Convener of national women’s team, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Apsari, who had been a Rajapaksha’s loyal for decades and even held a position of one of the advisor during their tenure, had taken a break from her duty at SLC to contest the recently concluded Parliamentary Election from Sajith Premadasa led Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) party in the Colombo District. During her election campaign, she frequently slammed SLC right and left on various matters.
However, the move to contest the election turned disastrous, as she could secured only few hundred votes and lost embarrassingly.
According to sources, following the election debacle, she was seen at SLC HR.
Interestingly, not only Apsari, Hashan Tillakratne, who previously held coaching positions with Sri Lanka U19 and Women’s team, also criticized Cricket board on TV programs in recant times. Hashan currently serves as the head coach of Bangladesh Women’s team!
