Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube will join the Indian squad for the final three T20Is against England as cover for young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. Nitish suffered a side strain injury in the practice session ahead of the second T20I against England in Chennai.

“All-rounder Nitish Reddy sustained a side strain injury in the practice session on 24th January in Chennai. He is ruled out of the ongoing 5-match T201 series. Reddy will head to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for further management,” the BCCI statement read.

“Rinku Singh sustained a low back spasm while fielding in the 1st T201 against England on 22nd January. He is progressing well and the BCCI medical team is monitoring him closely. He was ruled out of the 2nd and 3rd games of the ongoing 5-match T201 series. The Senior Selection Committee included Shivam Dube and Ramandeep Singh in the squad.”

Meanwhile, Dube is expected to join the national team ahead of the third T20I, scheduled to be played in Rajkot on January 28. Dube, who last represented India in a series against Sri Lanka in July last year, had been sidelined with a back injury and recently made his comeback in domestic cricket following rehabilitation.

Shivam Dube was a member of India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2024. During the tournament, he scored 133 runs with the bat, including a crucial 27-run innings in the final against South Africa. His most recent T20I appearance came in July 2024, in a match against Sri Lanka.
