Jasprit Bumrah has risen in the past year to become the best player for India across all formats undoubtedly. He was the Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup 2024. He recently was the talk of the town at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Even though India lost the series by 1-3, Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Series.
This is because he picked up 32 wickets, becoming the bowler with the most number of wickets in a single edition of the prestigious India-Australia series. He now has added another feather to his cap.
Jasprit Bumrah, for his brilliant performance in the longest format of the game last year, has won the ICC Test Player of the Year 2024. He now becomes the first Indian pacer to win this prestigious honour. Overall he becomes the 6th Indian after Rahul Dravid (2004), Gautam Gambhir (2009), Virender Sehwag (2010), Ravichandran Ashwin (2016) and Virat Kohli (2018) to win this honour.
Bumrah finished as the highest Test wicket-taker in 2024, with 71 scalps at an astonishing average of 14.92.
