Afghanistan wrist spinner Rashid Khan equalled former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo to become the joint-highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket on Friday, January 31. Rashid achieved the feat during Match 27 of the ongoing SA20 2025 between MI Cape Town and Pretoria Capitals at SuperSport Park, Centurion.
The wrist-spinner picked up 2/25 to set up a 22-run win for MI over Capitals as he shattered the stumps of captain Kyle Verreynne and Marques Ackerman to pick up his two wickets of the match. Courtesy of his performance, he rose to the top spot in the list of highest wicket-takers in T20 cricket, joining Dwayne Bravo.
Rashid now has 631 wickets to his name in his illustrious T20 career from 460 matches (456 innings) at an average of 18.08 and an economy of 6.49 with four five-wicket hauls. He got levelled with Bravo who also has 631 wickets in his T20 career from 582 matches (546 innings) at an average of 24.40 and an economy of 8.26 with two five-wicket hauls.
Rashid has been one of the most sought-after T20 bowlers around the world due to his ability to choke the opposition in the middle overs with economical bowling and regular strikes. In the ongoing SA20 so far, he’s scalped nine wickets at an average of 23.
Apart from SA20, the wrist spinner also plies his trade for MI New York in the Major League Cricket, Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), MI Emirates in ILT20, Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League and several other teams across various competitions in the world.

In the 121 matches played in the tournament, Rashid has 149 wickets to his name at an average of 21.82 and an economy of 6.82. Meanwhile, having etched his name in the record books, Rashid will aim to surpass Bravo’s record in MI’s next fixture on February 2.
