Ravindra Jadeja became the fifth Indian bowler to complete 600 wickets in international cricket. The left-arm spinner achieved the milestone during the first ODI of a three-match series against England in Nagpur on Thursday, February 6. Jadeja rocked England’s batting unit with three wickets with a masterclass of spin bowling at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

Ravindra Jadeja also went past James Anderson in the list of players with most wickets in ODIs between India and England. Jadeja went past Anderson’s tally of 40 wickets to take the top spot in the elite list.

Ravindra Jadeja got the ball to turn from the word go after being brought into the attack in the 15th over. Axar Patel bowled ahead of Jadeja, but it was the experienced star who won the battle of left-arm spinners on Thursday.

Jadeja got the first wicket of the day when he rushed Joe Root with a faster delivery. The ball spun a bit to beat the inside edge of Root’s bat and strike him on his pads.

He then got the wicket of half-centurion Jacob Bethell, who was looking to cut loose towards the latter half of the England innings. Adil Rashid was the third victim of Jadeja as the England spinner lost his stumps while trying to slop sweep.

Jadeja’s three-wicket haul and Harshit Rana’s three wickets on debut helped India bowl England out for 248. The visitors, who were beaten 1-4 in the T20I series, did not lst the full quota of 50 overs of the series opener.
