India captain Rohit Sharma joined Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly in an elite list as he became the 3rd Indian opener to score 9,000 ODI runs. Rohit achieved the feat during the India vs Pakistan clash in Dubai on Sunday, February 23 after scoring an entertaining cameo of 20.

Rohit started his journey as an opener in 2011 and became a regular in the spot just ahead of the 2013 edition of the Champions Trophy. In the World Cup in 2023, Rohit set the tone for India in most of the matches and scored 597 runs.

The Indian captain is continuing to play the role in the ongoing Champions Trophy and scored 41 runs in the first match against Bangladesh. With his knock on Sunday, Rohit joined the likes of Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya and Chris Gayle in the list.

Rohit got to the landmark in just 181 innings and he has 30 hundreds during this time.
