Former India cricketer Mohammed Kaif on Tuesday lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board, accusing them of utter mismanagement after the Australia vs South Africa clash was washed out due to rain in Rawalpindi.
As a result of the rain, the track had to be covered, but the ground staff left the outfield exposed to the weather, which caught Kaif‘s attention, who alleged some mismanagement of funds provided by ICC to PCB.
A favourable result for either Australia or South Africa would have guaranteed them a spot in the semifinals but that was not to be.
“It’s a shame that the Rawalpindi ground isn’t fully covered. Such an important match – SA vs Aus – might go down the drain because no one addressed this issue,” Kaif tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.
The game was abandoned in Rawalpindi on Tuesday because of persistent rain, forcing the two Group B heavyweights to share a point each.
