Shakib Al Hasan cleared of suspect bowling action in huge relief for Bangladesh

Written by Vishwas Gupta

Bangladesh allrounder Shakib al Hasan has cleared the bowling action reassessment test after he was banned for a few months due to a suspect bowling action and has been subjected to widespread criticism, according to a report in Cricbuzz.

Shakib couldn’t clear the test twice but the latest results suggest that Shakib has managed to clear the air around his bowling action.

The development comes as a massive sigh of relief for Shakib who had been excluded from Bangladesh’s Champions Trophy team as the selectors did not want to pick him as a specialist batter.

Bangladesh lost their Champions Trophy games to India and New Zealand, with their final group stage game against hosts Pakistan washed out.

Having been suspended to bowl meant that Shakib could not be part of the Champions Trophy which he had earmarked as a farewell tournament in international cricket.

Shakib’s exclusion from the Champions Trophy team might have marked the end of his ODI career, with the next big tournament only the 2027 ODI World Cup, by which time he will be 40 years old.
