Riyan Parag said that Sanju Samson and Rahul Dravid have helped him immensely during his short stint as the captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (RR). Parag, who was the leading run-scorer for the Royals last season, was made captain for the first three games after Sanju Samson decided to play as a pure batter.
Having captained teams in domestic matches, Parag wasn’t alien to captaincy. But he didn’t have a great start to his journey as IPL captain after the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat them by 44 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Parag has two more chances to make an impression as captain, one of which is against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday in front of his home crowd at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. Parag said that in the presence of seniors, he hasn’t faced any trouble as captain.
“Not at all. I think everyone here is a professional. Everyone knows what to do when there is a new leader. Sanju [Samson] Bhai has been really helpful, and Rahul Dravid has also been a great support. So I have not really faced any trouble assembling the team or get someone in the same line of communication,” Parag said in the pre-match press conference.
