Rahul Dravid, who is the head coach of Rajasthan Royals, made a cheeky comment about his leg injury and reckoned that he shouldn’t have played this sport at his age. He had sustained an injury before the ongoing season of the IPL since he played cricket in Bengaluru. Despite his injury, he still joined the Rajasthan-based franchise and also watched their first two matches from the sidelines.
Dravid was seen wearing a cast on his leg and was moving in an electric wheelchair while he watched the team’s preparations and training sessions. He also attended the pre-match press conference before the IPL 2025 match against CSK and revealed that he was recovering brilliantly and received great help.
“Recovering well. I got some great support. Just, unfortunately, at my age, playing cricket matches wasn’t a great idea I think. But it’s ok. It happens so it’s fine,” Rahul Dravid told reporters during the pre-match press conference.
The Riyan Parag-led side hasn’t had a great start to their campaign since they are on a two-match losing streak. But Dravid dismissed all the concerns and admitted that they are still in the early stages of the cash-rich league tournament.
“It’s early days, and there are a lot of positives. Against SRH, we probably gave away 25-30 extra runs on a flat wicket. And in the KKR game, we should have scored 25-30 more. But this is just the start. We’re confident about turning things around” he added.
Dravid also revealed that he is excited about this young team and that they can end their campaign brilliantly even though they had a disappointing start.
“I’m excited about this group. A couple of games haven’t gone our way, but in a long tournament, that happens. Sometimes it’s better to start slow and finish strong — and that’s exactly what we’re aiming for,” he concluded.
