Shammi Silva elected Sri Lanka Cricket president for fourth consecutive term

At the 64th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Maitland Place today (March 31), Shammi Silva has been re-elected as Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) president for an unprecedented fourth consecutive term, alongside other members of the previous executive committee, who were also voted in uncontested, Cricket Age exclusively learns.

This is also the third consecutive time, when Silva has been elected uncontested. The decision was declared by the Election Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Silva, a close ally of International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah, was appointed president of Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) in December last year. It once again proved Silva’s growing stature In World Cricket and his unmatched tuning with Cricket’s most powerful person at present – Jay Shah.

During Silva’s previous tenure, Sri Lanka experienced a significant resurgence, notably winning their first-ever T20I series against the West Indies in 21 years and a historic ODI series win against India after 27 years. It also includes Test wins against England and New Zealand.
