Yashasvi Jaiswal has reportedly decided to switch domestic allegiance from Mumbai to Goa from the 2025-26 season in what could be termed one of the most remarkable developments in the recent history of Indian domestic cricket. According to The Indian Express, the left-handed batter emailed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Tuesday seeking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the switch.
“He has sought a NOC from us and has cited that the reason for his move to Goa as personal,” the newspaper cited a source in the MCA as saying.
Jaiswal is likely to captain Goa in the upcoming season. He follows the likes of Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad in making the switch.
However, while those two players switched for more game time to progress their careers, Jaiswal was already Mumbai’s first-choice opener across formats and had used that ladder to step up to the Indian team.
It’ll be a big scoop for Goa who haven’t had many players represent India or even play in the IPL. Last season, they topped the Ranji Trophy Plate group with six wins in as many matches.
Jaiswal is now India’s first-choice opener in Tests and has been fighting for the same privilege in ODIs and T20Is too. He recently made his ODI debut against England and before that, played all five Tests of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
