As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 Match Number 29 was interrupted for a while due to rain, a man sitting in the stands at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru became the talk of the town. Suddenly, when the camera focused on him, almost each and every person present at the venue shouted out loud to cheer for him. He was none other than the former Indian captain and the present India U-19 coach, Rahul Dravid.
IPL has always been a star-studded affair. Celebrities arrive at the match venues and occupy a space in the VIP stands from where they can see the game comfortably. But Rahul Dravid chose the other option. Along with his wife and son, he remained seated just like any other spectator while people around him couldn’t stop themselves from clicking selfies with the ‘Wall’ of the Indian cricket.
As he has always been a person with simplicity, he watched the match just like any other cricket fan from Bengaluru who came to witness a power-packed IPL match.
Dravid started his IPL career with captaining the RCB side in the inaugural edition in 2008, followed by Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils. Later, he had to give up his association with this cash-rich tournament following the BCCI guidelines.
