Since last two decades, Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has been witnessing same faces again and again : Thilanga Sumathipala, Jayantha Dharmadasa and Nishantha Ranatunga. They have dominated the SLC so much and for so long that now Sri Lanka cricket fans have completely lost their interest, in their game of ‘Musical Chairs’.
On Monday, All three once again submitted their nominations for yet another SLC election, to be held on May 31.
After seeing their names once again, not only cricket fans, Legendary Mahela Jayawardene also expressed his disappointment, as he took a dig on contestants.
“Thilanga Sumathipala, Jayantha Dharmadasa, Nishantha Ranatunga & Mohan de Silva submitted their nominations for SLC president post, Cricket election on May 31st” BBC journalist Azzam Ameen Wrote on his twitter handle.
Commenting on this, Mahela wrote “It’s so good to see so many new faces contesting the SLC elections!☺️”.
Not only Mahela, Sri Lanka fans also felt that SLC is going nowhere with this unfortunate scenario.
“Hmm, not interested. Ex cricketers should have had the opportunity to contest” wrote Prasad Perera.
“Same stupid gang ! Was expecting new young generation to be represented ! Nishantha R was popular regarding corruption I guess ! RIP SRILANKA CRICKET” wrote Dilan Jayasinghe.
