Former Selector Sajith Fernando has been appointed as the tournament director of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) recently announced T20 League, Cricket Age reliably learns.
On July 2nd, Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) announce the launch of SLC T20 League, which will run from 21st August to 2nd September, 2018.
The league will comprise of 4 teams, namely, Colombo, Dambulla, Galle and Kandy, while each team will play 6 games in the first round, facing each other twice. The top two teams of the points table will go into the finals to be played on the 2nd September, 2018 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
Sajith Fernando is one of the ‘lost generation’ of players, was unable to break into the national side during the late nineties because of a settled top order and SLC internal politics.
A stylish left-hander of his time, Sajith played a Mountainous 193 first-class games and scored over ten thousand runs. He was one of the most consistent performer in the domestic circuit for over a decade.
After retirement from first class cricket, he also turned out a highly successful coach for one of Sri Lanka’s most prominent Nondescript Cricket Club. Recently, he was appointed Sri Lanka Emerging team manager, where his side won the test series 1-0 against South Africa.
