England have been the team to beat in the tournament. They humbled Bangladesh in the first match. New Zealand were no match to England in the second and Australia thought they had won the game before Ben Stokes and Eoin Morgan turned it around.
But, England were completely opposite side facing Pakistan in the semi-final. They’re batting did not click. Bowling had lost his sharpness as Pakistan lost only three wickets in the chase. A team which was posting 300-plus totals at will were bowled out for 211. Before this game, their average total in ODIs since 2015 World Cup was 302.
Since the World Cup, they had an average run-rate of 6.29 per game but on Wednesday, they scored at a rate of 4.23. It was a clear mis-match but Pakistan were the superior team.
