Greg Chappell might not have had the best of coaching spells with the Indian cricket team and there is a still a huge section of fans who feel Chappell did more harm to Indian cricket then good, but that doesn’t stop the former Australian cricketer from heaping praise on Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Chappell has rated him as one of the best batsmen of the era.
Kohli has been terrific so far in the ongoing five-match Test series against England, he has already scored two centuries in the series to bury all his doubters to rest. The Indian captain is the leading run-scorer of the series so far with 440 runs under his belt.
“Kohli is proving to be the outstanding batsman of his era. His with partnership Rahane in the first innings was the decisive period of play during the Trent Bridge Test match,” Chappell, who is currently in Bangalore, said.
Talking about India’s victory in the third Test at Nottingham, Chappel said Kohli’s partnership with Rahane in the first innings was one of the most crucial points in the match as it provided India with a platform to build on a big total. “His partnership Rahane in the first innings was the decisive period of play during the Trent Bridge Test match,” he said.
