Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) is mulling over the possibility to shift the second against England to Colombo, after a five star hotel in Kandy has refused to accommodate rooms to Sri Lanka cricket team, Cricket Age reliably learns.
The second test of the upcoming three match series against England is scheduled to be played at Kandy from 14 November.
However, the things have become complicated in last few days, as the Earl Regency hotel in Kandy has insisted to give the rooms only to England team. According to sources the hotel management has taken this step, as SLC couldn’t pay the dues to earlier three tours.
“Unfortunately, the same thing happened during the Pallekele ODIs as well, when the hotel refused to accommodate Sri Lanka players. At that time, SLC somehow convinced hotel management, but now things are unlikely to be sorted out” a top SLC Official told Cricket Age.
It has also learnt that after refusal from the Earl Regency, SLC tried to book another five star hotel for Sri Lanka Team at Matale. However, Sri Lanka players refused the idea, as Matale is too far away from the ground.
“After players refused to stay in a five star hotel in Matale, now we have no other option than to move the second test to Colombo” he added further.
