Yuvraj Singh, who scored just 65 runs in 8 matches in IPL 2018, was clearly not on the radar of the franchise owners. But Mumbai Indians, three-time IPL champions, threw a lifeline to Yuvraj, as they roped him in at his base price of Rs 1 crore as the event was heading towards its conclusion.
As wishes poured in from all corners for Yuvraj, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who played a major role in shaping up Yuvraj’s career, took to Twitter to express his happiness.
“Extremely happy to see Yuvraj singh picked by mumbai …has been a great player for the country in shorter format ..good wishes to him @YUVSTRONG12,” Ganguly wrote.
Yuvraj entered the auction after reducing his base price by Rs 1 crore. He was bought by Kings XI Punjab last season and was released ahead of the IPL 12 auction. After sealing the deal, Akash also opined that getting Yuvraj at 1 crore could be Mumbai Indians’ biggest steal in IPL auction history.
