Former Indian great Sunil Gavaskar has slammed Sri Lankan cricket after the hosts’ below par performance in the three-match Test series against India. Gavaskar conceded that a First Class team from India would beat the current Sri Lankan side.
Sri Lanka conceded more than 600 runs in the first two Tests in Galle and SSC and were beaten by 304 runs and an innings and 53 runs respectively inside four days. In the final Test in Pallekele, they were beaten inside three days by an innings and 171 runs to suffer their worst ever home series defeat.
“To be frank, you can’t call this a Test match. The Indian team hasn’t been tested at all. A Ranji team in the elite status can beat this Sri Lankan side,” said Gavaskar.
Sri Lanka couldn’t compete with India in any department, thus the series turned out to be one of the most one sided affair in recent times.
