Even though there is no clarity over the upcoming proposed election at Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), two of former President Thilanga Sumathipala’s close associates Sujeewa Godaliyadda and Anura Weerasinghe are trying hard to bribe stakeholders by giving them offers, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Sujeewa Godaliyadda, the so called advisor of Sumathipala, is the President of Central-North provincial cricket association.
According to sources, in order to secure eight votes from the association for the election, Sujeewa is offering Dambulla ground to the stakeholders for the division three matches, that too total free of cost. Additionally, he has offered many people’s jobs at grounds and in the provincial association offices.
Anura Weerasinghe, another Sumathipala aide, is doing the same sort of malpractice at western provincial cricket association.
According to sources, the big loophole with the provincial associations is that they conducts their own audit. So, it’s become rather easy for them to manipulate things!
It is noteworthy that Godaliyadda is notorious for acting on the behalf of Sumathipala. Few months ago, few hours before an international match at Dambulla, Sujeewa allowed Sumathipala to inspect the pitch, even though his boss was not the president of SLC at that time.
