Former Indian captain MS Dhoni is all set to achieve another milestone as India take on New Zealand in the third and the final T20I of the ongoing series. Dhoni, who has so far played 299 T20 games in his career will become the first ever Indian cricketer to have made 300 appearances in the shortest format of the game.
Dhoni has over the years represented a host of teams in the T20 format including two Indian Premier League franchises namely Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants. Out of 299 T20 games that Dhoni has played, he has made a total of 95 appearances for the Indian team and the rest have come in non-international tournaments.
If Dhoni features in India’s playing XI for the series-decider against New Zealand on Sunday, he will complete the milestone of plying 300 T20s and will join the likes of Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik and Dwayne Bravo in an elite list of players with over 300 T20 appearances to their name. With 446 T20 matches under his belt, Windies all-rounder Kieron Pollard is on top of the list.
In the ongoing T20I series he is the top-scorer for India with 59 runs in two innings. He scored an unbeaten 20 off 17 balls as India defeated New Zealand by seven wickets in the second T20I to bounce back to winning ways and draw the series level at 1-1.
