Sunil Gavaskar terms England as his world cup favourite

Written by Vipin Darwade

Even though team India stands firm favourites to win the upcoming World Cup, as far as the legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is concerned, England have a bright chance of winning their first-ever title, considering they would be playing in home conditions.

“If you go by the history of last two or three World Cups, in 2011 the host nation India won, in 2015 host nation Australia won. In 2019, there is a very good chance that England will win the World Cup,” Gavaskar said during his visit at the British High Commissioner’s residence on Tuesday. “There is a very good chance they (England) will win the World Cup” he said.

The showpiece event in England and Wales is scheduled to kick-off on May 30 and conclude on July 14. The title favourites India and England are set to lock horns at Edgbaston in Birmingham on June 30.
