Yuvraj Singh opens up on retirement

Against Delhi Capitals on Sunday, star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh top-scored for Mumbai Indians but failed to get his team over the line. He scored 53 off 35 balls with the help of five boundaries and three sixes. After his eventful knock, Yuvraj opened up on retirement in the post-match press conference and revealed he is not thinking of hanging up his boots anytime soon.  Yuvraj last played for India in June 2017 and has since remained out of favour from the national team due to dip in form and poor fitness.

“When the time comes, I will be the first one to hang up my boots. I spoke to Sachin (Tendulkar) as well and he has gone through such a time at 38-39. Talking to him makes things easier for me. In the last two years, I have been up and down. I started playing cricket because I enjoyed the game and then I was not playing for Indian. It was U-14, U-16, so till the time I enjoy, I will play,” Yuvraj said in the post-match press conference after his half-century against Delhi Capitals.

Yuvraj revealed he took his chances after settling down to take the game as close as possible.

“I took my time there. The wickets were falling and I thought if I take chance early, we (don’t) want to end getting close to the game, so I just took my time. I am happy with the way I was hitting the ball,” he added.
