Even though entire world cricket saw their involvement in alleged pitch fixing scandal in Al Jazeera documentary last year, Sri Lanka’s former player Jeewantha Kalatunga and Tharindu Mendis are still associated with Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) affiliated western province, Cricket Age learns.
On May 27, SLC suspended Kalatunga, Mendis after reports of their involvement had emerged. At that time, Al Jazeera had exposed that Kalatunga and Mendis were plotting to fix the pitch with Dubai based Indian businessman Gaurav RajKumar.
However, as it has always been the case with SLC, their suspension was also an act to hoodwink cricket fans and fraternity. Even though, SLC called for an inquiry at that time, nothing has come out even after one year. Cricket Age learns that both Kalatunga and Mendis were continue to associate with western province and are still part of coaching staff there.
Another fact is that since last two years, not a single enquiry report, that were initiated by SLC, has come out!
