Jasprit Bumrah Reveals Secret Behind His Consistent Yorkers

Written by Vipin Darwade

India’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who turned the tables for India against Bangladesh in a World Cup 2019 league stage match on Tuesday, revealed the secret behind his consistency in bowling the toe crushers. India at one stage were in trouble when Bangladesh needed 36 runs off the final three overs with well-set Mohammad Saifuddin batting confidently from one end. Captain Virat Kohli yet again showed faith in his best bowler and gave the 47th over to Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah lived up to the expectations of his skipper and claimed Bangladesh’s final two wickets in his over, thanks to his back-to-back unplayable block-hole deliveries.

After the match, he admitted that his accuracy with the yorkers is all about working hard during training and doing the hard yards.

“I do it again and again and again in the nets. So the more you do it, you get decent at it. You can’t master it,” said a modest Bumrah when asked how he has again made the block-hole delivery fashionable at the death.

“You are still trying to get better at it, yeah. It’s all about repetition. It’s like any other ball.”

“Whenever I practice in the nets, I practice each and every situation, be it with the new ball, be it with the old ball, bowling at the death,” he said.

“So if I have ticked all of the boxes in the net, it’s then all about execution (in the match) and keeping a clear head. If the work ethic is good, I think the execution feels much easier in the game,” he assessed.
