Virat Kohli on Thursday once again backed Rishabh Pant to come good despite his slump in form as the Indian skipper said that the youngster will get full support from the players and management.
“We certainly believe in Rishabh’s ability. As you say, it’s (also) the player’s responsibility to do well but our responsibility is to give him space, to support him. He should get support and it is disrespectful if you don’t get it,” Kohli said in the pre-match press conference in Hyderabad.
In the recently concluded series against Bangladesh, Rohit, in absence of Kohli, said that Pant needs to be left alone by all the experts and media personnel while adding that the youngster is a match-winner and will regain his form with time.
“As Rohit (Sharma) said recently, he needs to be left alone, he is a match-winner. Once he comes good, you will see a very different version of him. He can’t be isolated to such an extent that he doesn’t do well. We are here to do things for him,” he added.
Pant’s litmus test and India’s next assignment, against West Indies, is set to start from December 6 (Friday) with the T20I series opener scheduled to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
