There has been a stiff competition going on in Sri Lanka school cricket, to win something big- the schoolboy cricketer award 2017. And, young batting prodigy of St. Aloysius college, galle Navindu Nirmal Vithanage has been turning out to be the front-runner to win the glory.
Navindu, a right handed wicketkeeper batsman, has been a consistent performer in Sri Lanka school cricket. In his steller school career so far, he has represented Sri Lanka U15, U17 and U19 as well. recalling those days, he says “Most memorable moment in my cricket life is to win the best batsman award in U19 super provincial tournament.”
A admirer of legendary Kumar Sangakkara, Navindu made his first class debut in 2015, when he was only 17 years old.
Right now, his main target is to win the prestigious award, where he has been leading since the beginning. for the longer term, Navindu, who prefers to bat at no. 5, wants to represent Sri Lanka, especially in test format!
