England’s World Cup-winning star Jos Buttler has auctioned his Three Lions shirt to help the fight against Covid-19 pandemic. Buttler said the fund raised from the auction will be used towards providing life-saving equipment to help those affected during the novel coronavirus outbreak.
Jos Buttler took to social media to announce the campaign and tagged the likes of Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Rohit Sharma and Shane Warne to spread the message. Buttler said the England shirt that will be auctioned has been signed by all of his World Cup-winning teammates.
The post has already attracted more than 150 bids and generated more than 65,000 pounds as of April 1.
“I am going to be auctioning my World Cup Final shirt to raise funds for the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity. Last week they launched an emergency appeal to provide lifesaving equipment to help those affected during the COVID-19 outbreak,” Jos Buttler wrote.
In a video message he posted, Buttler said: “Hello everyone, I hope you are all safe and well and staying at home. As we all know, hospitals, doctors, nurses and the NHS are all doing an incredible job at the moment and in the weeks and months to come they are going to need our support even more so.
