Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has been one of the most vocal cricketers in recent times. Akhtar remains criticial of Pakistan’s progress in international cricket and shares his thoughts and views on several topics pertaining to the gentlemen’s game.

With the world dealing with a huge crisis in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has led to the postponement of every sporting event. Thus, Akhtar believes that the virus won’t be defeated so easily and predicted no cricket for at least a year due to the impact of the deadly disease.

While interacting with his avid fans on his official YouTube channel, Akhtar stated, “If you ask me honestly, I do not know for how long the coronavirus outbreak will last, until and unless it is not known that how many people are infected, one cannot go ahead with any kind of cricket anywhere. I do not see cricket being played for at least a year due to the coronavirus. I see the virus troubling us for one year, these are troublesome times, I just hope we come out of this stronger.”

However, Akhtar hasn’t lost hope and remains optimistic that the world will manage to come out of this crisis together. “The situation is very bad, it is very tricky. I am not seeing the virus going for at least one year. But, we a group as different communities will come out of it. The world is not starting for the next year, how can cricket start.”
