Former India pacer Ashish Nehra is known for not mincing words and is usually loud and clear with his thoughts. In a recent interview with his former Delhi teammate Aakash Chopra, Nehra reflected on the captaincy of different captains he has played under.
Ashish Nehra said he won’t be able to speak much on the captaincy of Virat Kohli as he hasn’t played a lot of cricket under him but he feels that his captaincy is ‘still, a work in progress’. Nehra added that he thinks Virat Kohli is impulsive as a captain.
Nehra went on to tell that Virat Kohli as a player needs no recognition as his career graph tells the entire story. The former left-arm pacer said Kohli should continue to be aggressive on the field as it brings the best out of him but should be careful with his decision making.
Ashish Nehra, who was part of Indian squad which won the 2011 World Cup, heaped rich praises on MS Dhoni and called him a ‘very calculative captain’. Nehra said Dhoni would think of giving maximum chances to everyone in the team and formed a great partnership with former India coach Gary Kirsten.
Nehra said people think Dhoni is a reserved cricketer and doesn’t interact much but it’s not completely right. He said his room is open for everyone even in the night, one can go there, order food and talk about cricket to him. The former Delhi bowler said Dhoni gives his advice and messages in between the conversation and an international cricketer should easily catch it.
