Right after one of its top employee tested positive for Coronavirus, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has immediately tightened bio secure bubble for the upcoming England series, while making sure that the said employee has no involvement with the series.
Joe Root led touring party, including seven travelling reserves, arrived yesterday and will play two Test matches behind closed doors at Galle International Cricket Stadium, starting on January 14 and January 22.
Immediately after the employee tested positive, the SLC issued a media statement, in order to maintain transparency.
“An employee of the board has been found Corvid Positive and has been isolated with immediate effect. The board also took steps to immediately isolate the direct contacts of the infected employee and also has carried out PCR tests of the same” SLC media release reads.
Recently, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) became the first cricket board in subcontinent to successfully create robust Bio Secure bubble. The same will be continuing for the England series.
“Heavy security and health guide lines for the England tour will be implemented during the series. We can assure that there won’t be any vaccum left in the security and government Health guide lines. The army will be taking over the full control, with no spectators and media persons allowed inside the ground” the top official added further.
“It was necessary (to issue a media statement) in order to give a clearer picture to those, who are involved in England series. It’s a global pandemic and there is nothing to hide” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.
”Everything is going according to plan so far. We are doing both antigen and PCR on arrival of all players and support staff, as this helps us separate the invective early and hence reduces unnecessary quarantine” a member of SLC medical team told Cricket Age.
