The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is facing hard time these days, with at least half a dozen employees have been tested COVID positive so far, that too when the board is gearing up for the two test match series against England. Joe Root led touring party will play two Test matches behind closed doors at Galle International Cricket Stadium, starting on January 14 and January 22.
However, the top hierarchy of the SLC has made the care of those COVID positive employees as top priority and is taking all the necessary steps for a stress free quarantine period for them!
The SLC President Shammi Silva, in particular, is personally looking after all the arrangements and his humane act has won the hearts of the entire board staff members.
“He is looking at this in a very humanely way. He is the one, who arranged special care facility with Army support for those COVID positive employees” an insider at SLC told Cricket Age.
Yesterday, Cricket Age had published that the SLC has Isolated 5 ‘newly found Covid Positive’ employees In a hotel in Koggala adhering the health guidelines. Among those, one employee’s entire family is affected by the Virus. Shammi has made it sure that even the family memebers of COVID affected employees gets the necessary support.
“Yes. He has instructed the concerned authorities at Maitland Place to send the provisions to affected employees families also” the insider added further.
Recently, the SLC became the first cricket board in subcontinent to successfully create robust Bio Secure bubble. The same will be continuing for the England series.
“Heavy security and health guide lines for the England tour will be implemented during the series. We can assure that there won’t be any vacuum left in the security and government Health guide lines. The army will be taking over the full control, with no spectators and media persons allowed inside the ground” a top SLC official had earlier told Cricket Age. .
