Sanath Jayasuriya, one of the most iconic cricketer of modern era, has categorically denied of any possibility of contesting the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) election, which is scheduled for May this year.
Today morning, a leading Sri Lanka news paper published the article, stating that the 1996 World Cup Hero is among three candidates for the presidency at Maitland Place. The former destructive opener, however, made it loud and clear that he is not interested in SLC election politics and instead I just wants to serve cricket.
“It’s false news about me contesting SLC election. I am not interested in election politics” the legendary batsman told Cricket Age.
Shammi Silva led administration has already appointed a 3 member election committee and the sports ministry is expected to announce the details of the forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) in next few weeks.
