Shaken up by the Dinesh Chandimal led side’s embarrassing defeat against England in the recently concluded test series, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has now decided to remove Team’s Physiotherapist Ajantha Wattegama from the forthcoming West Indies tour, Cricket Age reliably learns. He has been replaced by Aravinda Jayadewa. Sri Lanka is scheduled to play 2 tests, 3 ODIs and as many as T20I matches against West Indies in February.

After 2-0 drubbing in Galle, the SLC is on active mode! While chief selector Asantha De Mel has already resigned from his post, High Performance Centre (HPC) physio manager Paul Khory has also been removed, along with his assistant Chryshantha.

The reason for the Asantha’s removal is that he was part of hiding legitimate fitness reports of players and doing certain other wrongful things.

“For now, he has been removed only from West Indies tour. We are having an inquiry against him for manipulating players fitness report. Once it concludes, we will decide on further action accordingly ” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.

In addition, some more members of the team management are also likely to be fired in next few days.

“The board will not tolerate any sort of indiscipline within the team. Its a professional environment and everyone needs to deliver, without involving in other practices” top SLC official added.

As Dinesh Chandimal led side generously gifted second Galle test to visiting England and surrendered the series 2-0, fans are left stunned! Sports Minister has already taken following long term decisions, after a meeting with SLC officials and National Sports Council chairman Mahela Jayawardene to discuss the current status of Cricket in Sri Lanka.
