Tickets sale for the third Test match of the India-England series at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad will be up and running from Sunday, February 14. The Day-Night Test will be the first International match at the renovated Motera stadium, which is the biggest cricket stadium in the world with a seating capacity of 1,10,000.
The renovated Motera Stadium will host 2 Test matches (including one with the pink ball) and 5 T20Is between India and England in this ongoing tour. The 3rd Test between these two heavyweights will begin from February 24 onwards. Only fifty percent crowd is allowed to set their foot into the stadium. The online sale of the tickets will begin at 11 AM (IST) on Sunday (February 14). The tickets are priced between Rs.300 to Rs. 1000.
In an interview with IndiaToday, Dhanraj Nathwani, the vice president of Gujarat Cricket Association, said, “We are honoured to be hosting this series after a hiatus and are excitedly looking forward to entertaining gathering of cricket fans at the world’s largest cricket stadium at Motera considering social distancing and safety norms. We hope normalcy returns soon and we get to see the stadium packed with fans cheering from all the stands for their teams.”
Team India have got a resounding success in the last 15 years which naturally increases the expectations from the players. Needless to say, cricketers are often criticized if someone fails to deliver when it matters. However, Indian crowds are mostly known for limitless support from the stands which helps the players to perform even better.
India did not host a single cricket game (not even IPL) in 2020 as they were one of the worst COVID-19 hit countries across the world. Things are starting to get better in 2021 and the Virat Kohli-led side finally decided to play 4 Tests, 5 T20Is, and 3 ODIs against England on their home soil from February. In the first Test match at Chennai, crowds were not allowed to enter the stadium.
