With Ravi Shastri’s tenure as head coach coming to an end and Virat Kohli quitting captaincy in all three formats of the game, there is a new leadership group at the helm of Indian cricket. While Rohit Sharma has been appointed the new captain in both white and red-ball cricket; legendary Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has taken charge as the new head coach.
The Rohit-Dravid combination has made a strong start together as they began their journey together with a 3-0 victory in the T20I series against New Zealand which was followed by a whitewash of West Indies in both the ODI and T20I series this month. Although India had a forgettable tour to South Africa, Rohit had missed the tour due to a hamstring injury.
Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has lavished praise on the Rohit-Dravid partnership for the work they have done so far. Karthik appreciated them for plugging small holes in the Indian limited-overs team which existed previously and claimed they are taking the team in the right direction.
“What I enjoyed most was Rohit’s captaincy. I thought he led the team beautifully. Tactically very, very sound, and I thoroughly enjoyed the way the team played in the last couple of series against West Indies,” Karthik to the ICC website.
“The new captain and there’s a new coach, I think they are taking the team in a fabulous direction. They’ve plugged small holes, which were probably there previously, and that has been the beautiful part about it. And along the way, in the journey, they’ve managed to become No.1,” said Karthik,” added the Indian wicket-keeper.
