Hard to maintain a chilled-out atmosphere – Sanju Samson after Rajasthan win over Lucknow

Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson lauded his team for putting up an impressive performance against KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday, May 15 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Royals have had their struggles, but they have managed to move up to second in the points table with a decent net run rate of +0.304.

On Sunday, the Royals defeated the Super Giants by 24 runs and strengthened their chances of making it through to the playoffs. Samson, who scored a 24-ball 32 against LSG, said that the RR batters wanted to express themselves after being put under pressure.

“We have been taking some good decisions. It is very hard to maintain a chilled-out atmosphere. Credit to the boys. You keep on losing here and there. We want to go out there and express ourselves as a batting unit. We have a quality bowling line up to defend. Last game also, (Ravi) Ashwin did well. Sometimes you take decisions and look bad when you lose.

“We can control the intensity. Neesham brought some amazing energy on to the field. There is some bonus point for having some quality spinners. We can use them any time. I know a lot of Tamil. I have friends and I watch a lot of Tamil movies.

Each and everyone went out there and showed some intent despite playing a batter short. You can’t really think much in this format, you just go out and express,” he added.

The Royals are set to play their last match in the league stage against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday, May 20 at the Brabourne Stadium.
