Marnus Labuschagne, on Friday, December 9, became the joint second-fastest batter to score 3000 runs in Test cricket. The right-hander is level with West Indies’s batter Everton Weekes, who got to the landmark back in January 1948 in 51 innings.
Australia’s Sir Donald Bradman remains the fastest to 3000 Test runs, having got to the feat in a mere 33 innings back in November 1928. As far as Labuschagne is concerned, he got to the 3000-run mark in Australia’s ongoing second Test against the West Indies at the Adelaide Oval.
Labuschagne was 153 runs away from the milestone before the Day Night Test in Adelaide. The youngster is currently the No.1 ranked batter in Tests with 935 rating points. Earlier this year, he reached his career best rating of 936 points during Australia’s Test series against Pakistan.
