Pakistan captain Babar Azam has outlined his immediate goals with the national team. The right handed batter, in an interview with the digital wing of the International Cricket Council, Azam said that his plan is to reach the final and then win the ODI World Cup, set to be hosted in India in the months of October and November.
“The ambition is to be a part of World Cup team and to win the tournament,” Babar told ICC Digital in an interview.
“The World Cup is coming up and my ambition is to perform well so that we can win it,” the right-handed batter.
Pakistan are running through a lean patch as far as their Test cricket is concerned however, have done well in the white ball format of the game, reaching the final stages of the ICC tournaments consistently over the last two years.
“You see lot of things individually too, but my goal right now is to win the World Cup,” Babar Azam said.
