Chandika Hathurasingha, who is currently officially the head Coach of Bangladesh, has been confirmed as Next Sri Lanka Head Coach, Cricket Age learns. It has also learnt that Nic Pothas, who is currently serving as interim Coach, will be back to his original position of Fielding Coach, once Hathurusingha Will officially take over after the India series.
“Hathurusingha is confirmed as next Sri Lanka Coach till 2019 World Cup. Though, Due to some strategical issues, Board is not yet ready to announce it officially” a top SLC Official told Cricket Age.
“Also, Nic Pothas has agreed to take over his original post of Fielding Coach. He is a professional and we appreciate his approach towards certain things” the source added further.
Cricket Age further learns that as Hathurusingha is firm on his stance, Bangladesh Cricket Board has also decided to release him amicably.
Hathurusingha has played 26 tests and 35 ODI’s for Sri Lanka. But, he is a universally well-Known as a innovative and forward Thinking Coach. He has associated as a Shadow Coach with Sri Lanka team, during Kumar Sangakkara tenure as the captain.
Back to 2010, Chandika Hathurasingha was all set to become Head Coach of Sri Lanka Team, after serving as a Shadow Coach. Then Captain Kumar Sangakkara was a big fan of Hathurusingha Coaching Methods, and recommended him with glowing tributes. Though, SLC had some other plans.
