Legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar said India pacer Jasprit Bumrah looked in great rhythm against Pakistan. India hammered Pakistan by 228 runs to register their first win in the Super-4 stage of the ongoing 2023 Asia Cup.

Speaking to Sports Tak’s Vikrant Gupta, Gavaskar said it was an all-round performance from India, adding that they completely dominated the game. India registered their highest-ever ODI win against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday.

“If the game against Pakistan would’ve been washed out, there would have been doubts over India being able to reach the final. It was an all-round performance from India and they registered a fantastic victory against Pakistan. India completely dominated Pakistan,” said Gavaskar.

He went on to say that he expects Pakistan to bounce back from their loss against India and play well against Sri Lanka. After putting up 356 runs on the board, India restricted Pakistan to just 128 to win the match by 228 runs at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

“If you’re a good cricket team then the past results don’t matter so much. You think about the games to come. If you keep thinking about the previous match then you won’t be able to concentrate on the coming matches. I don’t think Pakistan will make this mistake and will play well against Sri Lanka,” Gavaskar added.

The 74-year-old said Bumrah was in great rhythm against Pakistan, adding that even a world-class batter like Babar Azam couldn’t read him. Bumrah picked the wicket of Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq, while giving away just 18 runs in his five overs.
