Mitchell Starc said that he doesn’t regret missing out on the last eight editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL). On December 19, Starc became the most expensive cricketer in the history of the T20 league after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) roped him in for a massive price of INR 24.75 crores.
Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) also tried hard to get the Australia speedster, but in the end, it was the Knight Riders who secured his services.
[24/12, 16:46] JK-IIFLFN: The 33-year-old Starc has often pulled out of the IPL, citing his duty to serve the national team, especially in Test cricket.
“I made some choices, which I don’t regret at all. I think it’s probably helped my Test career, so I’m very happy with how it’s all gone. Very grateful to have some interest in the auction and excited, thrilled, surprised. There are plenty of words you can describe the night,” Starc was quoted as saying on LiSTNR Sport podcast on YouTube.
Back in 2014, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) roped in Starc and he went on to play two seasons for them. In 27 matches, the pacer has picked up 34 wickets at an economy rate of 7.17 with a four-wicket haul to his name.
Back in 2018, KKR bought Starc in the auction, but he was ruled out due to a stress fracture in his lower right leg.
Starc recently played in the World Cup 2023 where he picked up 16 wickets. The left-arm pacer has been a key part of the Australian team across formats.
