The International Cricket Council on Friday announced the schedule for the upcoming T20 World Cup which will be played in the West Indies and United States of America. The T20 showpiece event will be held from June 1 to June 29. United States of America will face Canada in the tournament opener on June 1.
The final of the T20 World Cup will be played in Barbados on June 29.
Meanwhile, India will start their campaign against Ireland on June 5.The marquee India vs Pakistan clash will be played on June 9 in New York. India and Pakistan are pooled alongside the USA, Ireland and Canada in Group A.The last time India and Pakistan clashed in a T20 World Cup was at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in 2022 when the two teams produced a thriller and a Virat Kohli masterclass guided the Rohit Sharma-led side to a win for the ages.
England, the defending champions, are in Group B along with Australia, Namibia, Scotland and Oman.
Defending champions England will begin their title defence on Tuesday 4 June in Barbados against Scotland and 2022 finalists, Pakistan, will get their challenge going on Thursday 6 June, when they play the USA in Dallas.
The mega clash between Australia and England will be played on June 8.
It will be the first time that 20 teams will be participating in the mega ICC T20I event as 55 matches will be played.
